At a minimum, you might find something you can use as a home box, if your Craftsman is in such bad shape you just don't want it around anymore. What I do NOT want to do is destroy valuable fasteners on a motorcycle (or cars for that matter), so I think Im going to want to slowly build a new basic set and phase out the Craftsman into a. I have a Modis and I like it but I feel like it’s way over priced. I can only speak from personal experience. I guess what scan tool you buy depends upon what you can afford and what you want to do with it. ![]() :) So definitely walk into a store and check out what they have before you pull the trigger. I have never seriously used Snap-On, SK, or Mac, but with the limited use I have had with them, I find that they 'fit' fasteners better than Craftsman. I’m sure your school has some type of purchase tool agreement with Snap-On, alot of schools do. My cousin is a store manager who has been with the company over 20 years now, and he's finally, actually, kind of impressed with the current quality of the "top line". However, HF has made some investments in their product line as of late, and they are now carrying three tiers of brands. If you're a suspension or heavy equipment tech and you need a high quality lower for those heavy tools, then buy the box that suits that need. ![]() The following is a general overview of Mac and Snap-On’s product. Both of these manufacturers have plenty to offer the average consumer. Making sure you have all your tools before the car goes out is just part of the job anyway, so if you're most often used tools just live in your cart, then the only bag of shit you have to sort out at the box is the top shelf. Mac and Snap-On have both worked hard to fulfill the needs of consumers, thereby offering comprehensive lines of both premium power tools and hand tools. From an efficiency perspective, loading and unloading the cart once per each job is much easier on you physically, and much more efficient time wise than going back and forth to the box several times per job. I would rather have a nice cart and a cheap box, because the cart can go with you bay to bay, and the box is just storage.
